OUR WORK

Fort Morgan Growing Readers

We know the key to maintaining a thriving community is to invest in our kids. One way we do this is by making sure every child starts school fully prepared to learn. Children who enter school with early literacy skills are more likely than their peers to experience later academic success, attain higher levels of education and employment.

Our goal is to ensure every Fort Morgan child enters kindergarten motivated and ready to learn. We can support this by providing every four-year-old with a personal home library of at least 100 books and encouraging them to develop a daily habit of reading. Presently, the program distributes books in English and Spanish.

OMC, along with key community stakeholders, is providing every kindergartener in Fort Morgan, CO with 100 books for their home library. After three years of Fort Morgan Growing Readers, the community is transforming from a book desert to a book garden!

Citizenship Pathway Resources

OMC offers low-cost citizenship classes and credible information on immigration-related topics. Classes help immigrants file naturalization applications, practice for naturalization interviews, and prepare for the citizenship test. Be sure to ask about current class dates, times, and location if interested in volunteering.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic OMC is not providing in person classes. Individuals wanting to naturalize can contact our office for study materials and legal resource referrals.

Wayfinders

Wayfinders Endeavor builds relationships between our diverse community through one-on-one and community activities such as academic mentoring, conversational language sessions, and individualized assistance. Through this program, immigrants and refugees can enhance their English conversational skills, reading and writing, or get help with preparation for the Citizenship test or GED test.
